120 members bid goodbye to Pas

SELAMA: Some 120 Pas members from the Kampung Tapah branch, quit the party yesterday, to join Umno.
They did so after they lose confidence in the leadership of the Islamist party.

Former Pas Sungai Bayor chief Ahmad Zanian Shuhor, 62, accused party president, Datuk Seri Hadi Awang, of practising cronism, but fielding his own son-in-law, Mohd Akmal Kamarudin, as the party's candidate for the Selama state seat in the 13th general election.

He also said that Hadi was willing to set aside the Larut Pas chief Dr Mohd Dahari Osman as the candidate for the parliamentary seat, to make way for former federal criminal investigation department director Datuk Fauzi Shaari to contest there.

"There will be more Pas members from Kampung Tapah who will join Umno after this," he said here today. - source NST
